PRINCE OF FENCES is written for a multi-aged, multi-racial cast of 11-12, with 3 leads and an ensemble of 8-9.
ISAAC (IKEY) SOLOMON: a dapper, successful receiver, aged 42 in Act 1, 46 in Act 2
HANNAH SOLOMON: Ikey’s wife, clearly a once-beautiful woman in her mid-40’s.
JOHN SOLOMON: Ikey and Hannah’s eldest son. He is age 16 in Act 1, 20 in Act 2
ENSEMBLE: An ensemble can be as large as desired, but must have a minimum of 6 males and 2-3 females who play all the other roles including THIEVES and WHORES, and as specified below:
# 1: Bobby 1, Gaol Guard, Turnkey 1, Allensby, Constable in Van Dieman’s Land (there isn’t really a need to make these all separate characters. It can work if they are the same character all the way through)
